Why does Barack Obama keep talking about the American Dream?

The American Dream is, by its definition, contingent on the existence of capitalism: where an individual can hope to achieve his goals and live in accordance with his values. However, Barack Obama has just recently reaffirmed, or confirmed, his belief in the socialistic principle of redistributing income. In other words, what can the American person, seeking this "American Dream" hope to achieve, knowing that once he does accomplish his goals, that accomplishment will be taxed to "help others have the same opportunity"?

Obama likes to use the imagery of an American Dream because it sounds nice, like everything else he says. However, it’s a direct contradiction, and it’s pure sophistry.
