It is rumoured that the President of the European Parliament has asked Tony Blair to enter negotiation?
He has asked Tony Blair to appraoch Pope Benedict XVl with a view to negotiating the entry of the Vatican into the European Union. Has anyone else heard of this?

Nope, I thought Tony Blair had retired though?
I don't think so… I live in Italy and Vatican has never planned to join Eu, as it has never planned to join full Un membership… It is a theocracy so it is incompatible with Eu and Un membership and it will not gain any kind of advantages from being member of Eu.
It wants to be free to speak to everyone without any kind of restriction…
On the other hand, unfortunately, it seems to me that Vatican has planned to take control of Italian politics for years…..
no, blair has just taken up an advisery role with a large company, he won't be doing anything else for a while.
I haven't heard that but he has taken a $1,000,000 a year job with a Wall St. bank that is making huge profits out of the Iraq War.
what's in it for the vatican ? what's in it for the EU ? as the answer to both is nothing it is extremely unlikely to happen. i don't actually recognise that mafia / catholic village as a sovereign state anyway, more a cult fortress a la seventh day adventists ( if that is what the stupid bastards were called ) waco, texas except unfortunately the papal cult are not going to blow themselves up.
No, and it definitely will not be true. What about all the Latin American Catholics?
No, but nothing this a******e does would surprise me. Strange he recently converted to Catholicism though. Especially strange as he campaigned for/introduced legislation that is totally against Catholic doctrine, how hypocritical is that? As for the EU, don't get me started!, That lot are nothing more than a corrupt, self-seeking, coterie of megalomaniacs, doing everything they can to build their Federation of Europe in order to become a world "super power". The sooner we jump off this "gravy train" for past and failed MPs, the better.
